We’ve all heard it before, “It’s much easier to do fundraising at a private school.” After all, private schools have all of the wealthy donors, right?
Learn why best practices don’t discriminate between private and public education institutions and how best practices in fundraising are applicable across the board. It’s all a matter of knowing the best practices an understanding how to transfer that knowledge into successful actions at your public education foundation.

About the Presenter:
Ernie Vargo, CFRE
Ernie Vargo has provided invaluable assistance to numerous educational institutions throughout his career at JGA, which began in 1998. Prior to joining JGA, Ernie had a storied career, working in marketing communications in the nonprofit sector and, prior to that, working in law enforcement. His “tough love” from working the streets comes in handy with many of JGA’s clients who seek JGA out for our authentic counsel.
Ernie began his career in the nonprofit sector as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Lambda Chi Alpha General Fraternity, and then moved to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. While working in development at the ISO, Ernie led a $50 million campaign that solicited a $10 million gift, the largest gift by a single donor in the ISO’s history.
Ernie is committed to philanthropy inside and outside the office. He is especially invested in education issues. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Brebeuf Jesuit High School. In his five years as a Trustee, he has also served as Chair of the Advancement Committee and Co-chair of the Long-range Planning Committee. He has also served as the Chair of the Alumni Advisory Committee for the Lambda Chi Alpha General Fraternity. Ernie is also the Founder of the Prevention of Child Abuse Foundation.
