About the Presenter:

Dave Sternberg is a founding partner of Loring, Sternberg & Associates. Prior to founding LSA Dave was the Chief Development Officer for the Phi Kappa Theta National Foundation, Assistant Director of Annual Giving at Bulter University and interim Director of Development for Prevention of Child Abuse Indiana. In a one-person shop, Dave ran numerous annual campaigns, major gift efforts, and began a basic planned giving program. In higher education Dave conducted personal solicitations and created new annual giving structures for the University.

As a volunteer, Dave has been active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Indiana Chapter, serving as the VP of Programs in 1998 and 1999 and as Chapter President in 2000. He also Chaired Indiana Fund Raising Day in both 1997 and 1998.

During his time with LSA Dave’s council has included annual fund management, development audits, board governance, feasibility/planning studies, campaign management, and executive search. Dave has worked with membership associations, hospitals, zoos, museums, arts organizations, children's organizations and community foundations.

In 2000 Dave joined the faculty of The Fund Raising School at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. He teaches Building the Annual Fund, Managing the Capital Campaign, Developing Major Gifts, Fundraising for Small Nonprofits and Principles and Techniques of Fundraising.

Dave has taught both nationally and internationally for The Fund Raising School and can be seen at fundraising days and conferences around the United States including, Omaha, Des Moines, Moline, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Lawrence, and Milwaukee.

In 2004 Dave began to limit his engagements with LSA to serve as the Associate Director of Public Service and Strategic Initiatives for The Fund Raising School at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. In this capacity, he was responsible for creating new partnerships to expand the reach of The Fund Raising School, developing new was revenue streams, assisting with course development and teaching Fund Raising School courses.

 

Dave is a past president of the Washington Township School Foundation.
