People

Ted Grossnickle, CFRE

Chairman
 
Prior to co-founding philanthropy consultancy JGA in 1994, Ted Grossnickle served for 10 years as Vice President of Development and Public Affairs at Franklin College, and as the college’s Acting President in 1993. Named Fund Raising Executive of the Year in 1994 by the Indiana Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (now the Association of Fundraising Professionals), Ted previously held positions at Northern Illinois University and Wabash College. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Wabash College and has worked with nonprofit clients in the US and Europe. In addition, Ted serves on the Board of Visitors for the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and frequently contributes articles and presents on topics in the field.
 

Derrick Feldmann

As CEO of Achieve, Derrick provides overall strategic direction for the work of the firm, clients, and partners. He is a regular contributor to nonprofit trade publications and speaker on fundraising, nonprofit management, and strategy for organizations. Prior to founding Achieve, Derrick was responsible for all major development programs at The LEAGUE and Learning to Give organization. His responsibilities beyond fundraising included program expansion, external partnerships, and sponsorship programs where he led efforts to expand the program offerings in 4 new markets, negotiated in-kind TV campaigns at a value of more than $1 million, and increased fundraising by 200%. Derrick is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and holds a Master’s Degree in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy. Derrick currently serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals International Youth Philanthropy Task Force and the Indiana Achievement Awards Advisory Board. Joanna Nixon

Joanna served as Vice President for Grantmaking for the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), one of the 30 largest community foundations in the country, with over $500 million in assets.  As Vice President, Joanna developed grantmaking strategies and managed the distribution of $12 million in grants to more than 600 nonprofits annually.  Prior to serving as Vice President, Joanna served as a Grant Officer and managed a diverse portfolio of over 250 nonprofit grantee relationships annually, which included arts and culture, environment, health and human service and youth development organizations.  Joanna is currently a philanthropic consultant to The Efroymson Family Fund, a CICF Fund, which is one of the largest donor advised funds in the country and has allocated over $60 million in grants since its inception in 1998.  Joanna currently serves as Chair of SOLAR, a young professional leadership committee of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.  Previous volunteer and leadership roles include the Women's Fund of Central Indiana OPTIONS alumnae, Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art Society and Primary Colours.  Joanna holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Indiana University.
 

Doug Grossnickle

Doug assists in the development of new resources and technology at Achieve and is responsible for the technology platform that delivers Achieve web services to our clients. He also develops the Achieve blogs, web pages and the monthly newsletter. Doug holds a degree in New Media Communication from IUPUI. Previously Doug attended Wabash College studying history before leaving to pursue other interests. He enjoys music, reading, camping, and other outdoor activities.
 

Andrew Brockman

Assistant - Nonprofit Research

 
Andrew provides a wide-array of administrative and project support tasks for Achieve and adds significant value to each Achieve clients’ experience with the firm. He previously completed a prestigious two-year Fellowship in Leadership and Service with the United States Golf Association (USGA), the national governing body for the sport of golf. Andrew offers a depth of nonprofit experience, having also worked for a small human services organization. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Butler University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Affairs through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
 

Amanda Freriks

Assistant - Logistics

 

Amanda brings her extensive experience in administrative and support functions to serve Achieve consultants internally and is often the first face or voice people calling on Achieve experience. Amanda’s past service of working directly with CEO’s in a variety of companies, means that she knows exactly what our busy clients need to keep them moving along successfully. She offers a depth of experience in helping create a culture of organization at Achieve that is detail-oriented and helps keeps our consultants focused on the goals of our clients. Amanda has volunteered for many churches and Habitat for Humanity, and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Indianapolis in nursing.
 

Hannah Staton

Assistant - Public Relations and Social Media

Hannah is a public relations and social media wunderkind for Achieve. She is a senior at Ball State University majoring in public relations. At Ball State, Hannah is the executive director of Cardinal Communications, a student -run communications firm with paying clients and more than 70 members. She is also the director of public relations for Ball Bearings, a magazine and online publication with readership in the thousands, as well as an active member of Public Relations Student Society of America . Hannah has won several prestigous awards from the Ball State University Journalism Department, but considers winning the Cardinal Chili Challenge her proudest moment. Hannah enjoys volunteering for an animal rescue, photography, and doing fun things outside.
